Some of our members and volunteers were delighted to be invited the Newbury Town Council Mayor-Making Ceremony a few weeks ago. Billy Drummond was elected as Mayor, and Gary Norman became Deputy Mayor.
Billy has had 2 serious strokes and now suffers from aphasia. Speakability was able to help him when he came out of the hospital. Gary is one of our volunteers and has done a great job being our Zoom expert!
Billy said, "Many like me suffer from aphasia and this is when Speakability helped me. Speakability is a local charity and does a great job helping people like me get back into the mainstream and build confidence."
We are delighted that Billy has selected us as his nominated charity for the year. We're all ready to help out with any fundraising activities.
