Rising to the fearless fundraising challenge

Maddy Sansom from Chandlers Ford is no stranger to donating her time and energy to the causes she believes in.  A few years ago she cut off her beautiful long hair in aid of the Little Princess Charity, who provide real hair wigs for children with cancer. After leaving school she worked in a care home looking after residents suffering from the impact of stroke and was shocked to see how much they struggled with simple everyday activities.

When a family member recently passed away after having a number of strokes, Maddy wanted to help make a difference by raising money for the Stroke Association and in particular to donate much-needed funds to the local Chandlers Ford Stroke Support Group.  So, on April 1st she did a sponsored abseil 100 meters down the outside of the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth and raised an incredible £1000. Maddy said "It was definitely a leg shaking experience, but I loved every moment of it knowing that I was doing it for such a good cause. I really hope my donation can be used to help people locally who have suffered from a stroke, to research more ways in preventing them or to help families who have lost loved ones due to strokes".

Bravo Maddy and a big thank you from all our Stroke Support Group members and volunteers.
