Four of our choir members have been very busy over the past few weeks, organizing a variety of events to raise much-needed funds to help with the running costs of the choir.
On 4 October, Paul and his friend John organised a ‘Retro Funk Disco’ in Stockport, that raised money for Stroke Association services in Stockport, including our choir. Many thanks to them for a funky, fun, fundraiser!
Also on 4 October, Ann and Shelly performed as part of Jake’s String Band at Prestwich Folk Club, and the club very kindly donated all money taken from ticket sales to the choir! A brilliant £75! So a huge thank you to them and everyone who was part of the event on the night.
And last but not least, Karen and her friend Christine joined forces to organise one of the most successful cake sales ever! Through baking and selling cakes, as well as organising a raffle, tombola and book sale, they managed to raise an amazing total of £1007! This money was split between our choir and the Anthony Nolan Cures Blood Cancer charity, so each organisation got £503.50, a brilliant boost to two great causes. So a huge thank you to them, everyone who donated raffle prizes, everyone who came along on the day and to Karen and her family for allowing their house to be pulled apart (including literally taking doors off their hinges to fit as many people as possible into their home!).
All the money raised will be a huge help towards the running costs of the choir, keeping it accessible to as many people as possible. So a big thanks again to everyone involved in all these amazing events!
